Today K/Thalathuoya Tamil Maha Vidyalaya has over 200 students, 20 teachers and 02 Non -academic staffs and follows national curriculum programme of study for srilanka. It is one of the oldest Tamil medium school in the central province, Kandy district. Which belongs to Kandy zonal and Pahathahewata division, with a well-deserved reputation for delivering high quality education programme for over 47 years.

The school was originally established in 1948 as a Bi-media school in Thalathuoya town. Later Mr. S. Govindasamy established separate primary school for Tamil medium school in 1958 with 285 students and the number of students gradually increased in 1960 with 300 students and 1967 with 400 students has obtained education. During that era the school conducted two sessions per day, one session was held in the morning for primary students with 06 teachers and other session was held in the evening for Secondary students with 06 teachers.

And the first Annual inter house athletic meet was held on 1973 was the first event in the school history. Further, in 1975 gradually the number of students increased upto 500 .Therefore the school has been promoted to Maha vidyalaya. During this time period the school has under come Navodya development plan and received resources from Presidential funds such as Building, library books and Furniture’s for library.  The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) has donated three storey building complex and toilets for the School in ( -------------).

During the period of 2007 to 2012 academic success begun, seven students got through the Grade 05 Scholarship examination as an achievement. As for historical event begun a new advance level programme on Arts stream from 2003. Our students got through the Advance level examination and enter to the universities and graduated with colors and brought pride to the School.

We were proud to pend down about our famous professor Mr.Mukiah was an old student of our school and most of our old students have been well occupied in abroad. A wonderful testament to the commitment and support the school has traditionally enjoyed from the parents population throughout its history.
